Junior Road Safety Officers
Last term, Bethany was chosen from the Year 5 to become the school Junior Road Safety officer for 2017/18 (J.R.S.O). A JRSO is a young person with the special responsibility of helping children keep safe on the roads. Before I could take on the role, I had to go on a training day with J.R.S.O Lead, Mrs Allam to a hotel in Basingstoke. This was a great day and we found out lots of information to bring back to our school. For example, did you know that if a child is under 135cm tall then they must use a car seat; it is the law!
Once I was fully trained I was able to bring all my knowledge back to the school and work with other J.R.S.O. pupils, Nat and Jocelyn. Since then we have taken two assemblies, where we have informed the rest of the school about different aspects of how to be safe on the road. This has included what to wear on dark nights and how to cross a road. We have even got the school involved in designing road safety posters. However, our job is not yet finished and over the next few months we will continue to do more amazing assemblies on road safety and run more competitions.
If you do have any queries or ideas for us, please feel free to find one of us. Have a safe term!
