Friends of Kingsclere School (FKS)

What is FKS?

Friends of Kingsclere School (FKS) is the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for our school. All parents of pupils at Kingsclere C of E Primary School are automatically members of FKS and we also benefit from active involvement from some past parents, pupils and staff. The FKS committee is elected annually and meets every 6 weeks or so to organise events and oversee the spending of funds. The committee aims to be approachable and welcomes suggestions from parents and pupils on fundraising activities and areas where the funds can be used.

In the last academic year FKS raised over £18,000 from its events and activities and the following were paid for from FKS funds; iPads for pupil use, an iMac, wet play boxes for each class, Mathletics (home learning maths programme) licence, Library book box, Cooking materials, Science Show, Class Christmas presents, subsidy of £200 per year for school trips, Year 3 Listen to me music project, in class reading area decoration, netball posts, playtime equipment and storage, sports coaches, Maths workshop, Year 6 leavers files, gardening supplies, paint for murals, outdoor table tennis tables, interactive whiteboard for the newly created classroom, subscription to Music for assembly and singing, additions to EY’s outside area and a visit from a pantomime company.

Past spending has included the school swimming pool, the school library, new reading scheme books, the activity trail, a planetarium visit, a theatre trip, a wildlife pond and the amphitheatre.

Through our events and activities FKS aims to continue to support the pupils in as many ways as possible not just in raising funds for extra equipment and activities but also in creating events which help to make every pupils time here even more enjoyable and memorable.

We are currently working on setting up a very exciting long-term project to install new equipment into the infant playground.

Please support FKS in as many ways as you can and let’s make this another great year - click here if you need to contact FKS!

A massive thank you to all who supported this years fireworks and bonfire event. It was a fantastic evening with a brilliant fireworks display and approx 2,500 in attendance, making it our biggest event by far! Over £12,000 has been raised which will go directly into supporting projects, activities and equipment for our children.

The fireworks committee (which includes people who's children have now left our school) are dedicated to making this event such a success and we are extremely grateful to them all for all they do.

The fireworks committee is a great group of past and present parents who meet every couple of weeks from Sept - Nov in one of the village pubs to plan the event. They would welcome new members for next years event, it's not a huge amount of time to give up and it's a great way to meet other parents and put something back into our school. If you'd like more info on how you can be involved in this great event please contact Rachael Knight (knightrachael@hotmail.co.uk / 07747 773325).

The Christmas card orders have been sent to My Art Project and as soon as we receive your orders of cards etc. back we'll put them into book bags.

We hope to see you all at our School Christmas Fair on on the first Friday of December in the School Hall from 3.30pm - 5.30pm.

You can visit Santa in his amazing grotto, have a go on many stalls (including tombola, pick a bauble, cakes, cuddly toys), play games with great prizes, take part in crafts (including make your own decorations and make your own reindeer food) PLUS there's festive face painting, seasonal refreshments, local stalls, bric a brac and a fantastic raffle with £100 cash, 9 festive hampers and many more amazing prizes.

It's a fun event to get everyone in the festive spirit and the money raised goes into projects to benefit our pupils so please come and join in the fun!
