Potato Council’s "Grow Your Own Potatoes" Competition

potatoes

This term, the school council have decided to enter the Potato Council’s "Grow Your Own Potatoes" competition. Entrants will have the chance learn about how to grow potatoes, healthy eating and have a chance to win a prize, including fantastic Marmax furniture for the playground.

Our Pack arrived this week so our team leaders, Sean and Elena have been busy preparing the potatoes for planting.

Stage 1: Chitting

Chitting is where you leave the seed potatoes in the sunlight to allow the shoots to harden off. The potatoes will stay in Mr Wells’ office for 2 weeks.

Stage 2: Planting

The potatoes will be placed in grow bags and covered with soil. They will need regular water, care and attention.

Sean and Elena thought carefully about where to plant our potato...
